Questions
Good to know.
Do I need to download anything?
No. ApiaryIQ runs in your phone’s web browser (Safari or Chrome). Add it to your Home Screen and it opens like any other app, with its own icon.
Does it work with no signal?
Yes. Inspections, treatments, feeds and harvests save on your phone first and upload by themselves when you’re back in range. A new apiary, with its GPS location, saves the same way. Voice notes made out of range fill in the inspection once they’ve uploaded. Only the Mentor and the weather need signal.
Who can join the beta?
We’ll select 15 beta testers, hobbyist and commercial, so we can look after everyone properly. Apply by 5pm on Wednesday 4 November and tell us what you’d want ApiaryIQ to help with; we’ll email everyone who applied by Thursday 5 November. Anyone can create a free account at any time.
What will it cost?
The Free plan is open now, for as long as you like: unlimited apiaries, hives and inspections, treatment and harvest logs, and GPS apiary locations. Beta testers get everything free for 30 days from the day they sign up. After the beta, the Hobby plan adds the Mentor, voice, weather and inspection forecasts, PDF export of your records, and reminders; its price will be announced when the beta ends. Nobody is charged without signing up to pay.
Are my records private?
Yes. Your records are yours: only your account can see them. We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising, and this site uses no tracking cookies. The full details are in our terms and privacy statement.
Is the Mentor a replacement for expert advice?
It’s a knowledgeable helper, not the final word. It answers from trusted New Zealand beekeeping sources and your own records, but for anything serious, especially disease, check with an expert. Suspected AFB or exotic pests go straight to MPI on 0800 80 99 66.
